Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the description and analysis of some elements of JeanJacques Rousseau’s political theory, primarily his understanding of the process of democratic decision-making, aimed at reaching decisions that are in accordance with the principle of the general will. The first part of the paper analyses Rousseau’s understanding of the general will and the system of political decision-making. The second part compares Rousseau’s and Condorcet’s understanding of politics, further analysing Rousseau’s theory through certain elements of Condorcet’s jury theorem, based on the works of B. Grofman, S. Feld, D. Estlund and J. Waldron. The third part focuses on interpretations and critiques of Rousseau’s political theory by authors B. Barry and R. Dagger.
