Summary/Abstract: The new spirit of the 1920s is reflected not only through the audacious work of Erik Satie, but also in the neoclassist aesthetic of the Group of Six. formed in 1920. These young composers did not, however, jeopardize academic values. not having truly subversive tendencies. They aim neither for depth nor seriousness. Polytonality is judged by the author to be the main contribution of the period to France.
