Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of a survey conducted among experts in the field of transport research, from the Baltic Sea region, on the competitiveness of intermodal transport in relation to road transport. The study aimed to identify factors that positively and negatively influence the choice of intermodal transport as an alternative to road transport along the entire transport route. The available literature was reviewed, and attention was paid to the problem of differences in the perception of intermodal transport by experts from different countries. It was also indicated that, depending on the approach to this problem and the local point of view, significantly different results can be obtained regarding the factors influencing the choice of intermodal transport as an alternative to road transport.
