On the Importance of Basel Prints for the Czech Lands

Summary/Abstract: This contribution evaluates the importance of Basel-made prints for the Czech Lands based mainly on quantitative data. It also traces the representation of Basel prints produced from the end of the 15th until early 17th century in large historical collections in the Czech Republic and analyses their relative proportion in the libraries of intellectual elites. In the second part, the author tries to determine the proportion of Basel prints in the reconstructed core of the Carolinum library, which survives in collections of the current National Library of the Czech Republic.
