Summary/Abstract: World War II casualties of the Romanian Army were massive. As a result, those who lost their lives on the battlefield were considered heroes, heroes of the people. Graves, mausoleums and societies in the honour of heroes formed a cult. This cult developed during wartime and continued in the interwar period. The sacrifice for the nation is idealised, the state and the church have a maximum contribution, and those who sacrificed their lives during the war become martyrs of the people.
