Summary/Abstract: The content of the article presents the genesis of the creation and publication of an unknown comedy written by Emil Zegadłowicz and Stefan Essmanowski, The Game of Green, or Conscious Fatherhood. Lark in three acts with prologue and epilogue. The detailed information contained in the article indicates the place of this work in the artistic output of both authors, presents the subject matter of the comedy in the context of the plays of the time, and explains the time and circumstances of its creation reconstructed on the basis of biographical sources, the surviving correspondence of the two co-authors and other testimonies. A separate place is given to the characterization of the process of formation of the final editing of the work, a discussion of the surviving transmissions, their linguistic features, the extent of variants and the participation of each co-author in the final redaction of the comedy’s text.
