Alexander Damnianovich: From East to West

Summary/Abstract: Composer born in Serbia and living in France since 1978, Alexandre Damnianovich today leaves a very personal mark on contemporary creation. His path, made of demands, questioning of openness and reflection, remains nourished by the combined contributions of Eastern and Western cultures. Through the examination of recent scores, we will try to identify what characterizes his style, highlighting the elements which more or less influenced him, to note that his French trajectory led him, in a more or less direct way , to reconnect with his Serbian roots, and to continue a tradition nourished by the contributions of a modernity that Alexander Damnianovitch was able to assimilate without any dogmatism.
