CRITICAL THOUGHT OF SLOBODAN SELENIĆ

Summary/Abstract: Slobodan Selenić published theater criticism in Borba from 1956 to 1968, and concluded the publication of theater criticism in Politika Ekspres (1974–1978). He engaged in theater criticism for sixteen years, and these records endure as a lasting trace of the theatrical-dramatic moment, although this aspect of his theatrical activity “remains on the sidelines of the serious attention of theater historians.” The period during which he actively wrote theater criticism Slobodan Selenić designates as the time of “directorial despotism.” This text will focus on his theater criticism, with special attention to critiques of domestic playwrights.
