Summary/Abstract: Kazimierz Kolańczyk was one of the best-known Polish 20th century Romanists. He was primarily known as the author of a textbook Roman Law, he did not leave behind many published Romanist works. An analysis of archival materials in the Archive of the Polish Academy of Sciences, branch Poznań, resulted in a discovery of an unpublished paper “The Legal Situation of the Slave in Ancient Rome”, which was prepared and presented in 1980. This article aims to draw attention to the paper unknown to a wider audience and serve as a contribution to research on the Romanist’s achievements.
