Summary/Abstract: Fast and timely collection of materials is part of the established practice among some museums. However, only in the last few years has the term rapid response collecting started being used for this method. It entered the museum world by this name through collections of design and production, and today it is indispensable in recording various events that are of great importance for the community and society. Perceiving the historical significance of the changes caused by the COVID - 19 pandemic, numerous museums have implemented this method in their work in order to document current phenomena during their duration. The ways and results of application of this method are observed through the work of the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, the Ethnographic Museum of Istria, the Museum of European Cultures, the Museum of Vienna and the Regional-International Museum of Women’s Culture. As the application of the new approach in work, especially in the conditions of the health crisis has brought about some ethical and organizational dilemmas, the paper also presents recommendations for collecting material about this pandemic.
