Summary/Abstract: The scientific research of folk dance in Romania is a recent activity. It started after 1951 when the ethnochoreology department was established at the Institute of Ethnography and Folklore „C. Brăiloiu” of the Romanian Academy. The activity of specialists was extremely productive until the 2000s, during this time they created the foundation of the department, they collected information and published studies and specialized articles. The recent resumption of ethnochoreological activity in this department involves the rediscovery and familiarization with the work of previous researchers. That is why this article aims to reveal some articles that resulted from the first specialized collections from Vrancea area compared to other paper in the field „imprinted” with our description, contextualization and interpretation which refer to folk dance in this area. At the same time, this rediscovery represents the first stage in organizing a research according to the research method proposed by the ethnochoreologists researchers (V. Constantin Costea, Romanian Ethnochoreology, in „Journal of ethnography and folklore”, volume 39, no. 1-2, p. 39-50, 1994). All this work has a final purpose of a contemporary field research for the study of the choreology dynamics in the Vrancea area.
