Summary/Abstract: The strong presence of products infused with AI in many of our homes has made such an impact on the evolution of human needs that technology has become key to our daily lives. In turn, the need to have such products in contemporary homes has different consequences for different user groups. This study is based on the development of six virtual robot models as part of the Tele-Encounters project, whose objective is to understand how elderly people and children evaluate their experience when interacting with these virtual robot models. A total of 150 children and 60 elderly people from Spain, Romania, and Italy are involved, using a quasi-experimental research design generated from each research location. The study highlights how both groups have different preferences in their use of virtual robots, which is important to take into account for future AI projects.
