Summary/Abstract: two Masses (Missa per octavas and Missa cum credo per octavas) held in the archives of kraków cathedral chapter on wawel Hill have been attributed to date to Father władysław leszczyński (1616–80), kapellmeister at the Jasna Góra monas- tery in częstochowa. as this article demonstrates, however, the latter work is not by leszczyński, but is a modified version of a Missa pro Nativitate domini Nostri Jesu chris- ti, also in the wawel collection, signed with the initials ‘M.M.’ and attributed to Marcin Mielczewski. The article also introduces another, previously unknown source of that Mass setting and addresses the issue of the work’s attribution
