Summary/Abstract: Irena Poniatowska’s latest publication represents an attempt to grasp the inexpressible and the transcendental in chopin reception by means of symbolic meta- phors. Drawing on parallels from the fine arts and theoretical concepts from the past, the author attempts a holistic exegesis of ethereal verse devoted to chopin. She discusses such semantic categories as nostalgia, nationality and the ideal, as well as aesthetic cat- egories like beauty, indicating both common and individual features of chopin’s recep- tion in literary works. The book is a unique study of the correspondance des arts, without parallel in the chopin literature.
