Summary/Abstract: This article examines the impact of home loss on identity. The processes of identity loss, identity formation, and identity diffusion are examined in detail through text analysis to determine the alienation processes experienced by protagonists in both the pre-migratory and migratory phases. Special attention is given to the different forms of government that trigger refugee movements in various decades. It is noted that home loss occurs not only when one physically leaves their homeland, but also that strong cultural, political, and societal alienation can lead to uprooting and identity loss, even when one remains physically in their homeland. The study demonstrates that despite temporal differences across decades, the same effects on identity persist.
