Summary/Abstract: The novel Tell me Gioni! hides under the cloak of princely irony a harsh criticism against the Soviet totalitarian system and its methods of enlisting. Structured in three distinct chapters - Apprentice, Journeyman, Master - which foreshadows an evolution on the social scale of the character, but disguises his involution on an inner level, the work is a bildungsroman that follows the transformation of Ion Tarabanțu from a child born of a modest peasant family in an absolute brute.
