Summary/Abstract: The author analyzes selected foreign language textbooks, including those for the study of Polish as a foreign language, which were published in Kraków (Poland) from the beginning of the 20th century until World War II. The common feature of these textbooks is that they were presented as having been written according to Robert Anson’s method. The analysis is carried out from the point of view of today’s methodological knowledge and deals with both the substantive and didactic content, visual materials and the external appearance itself. The author also refers to the advertising of these textbooks appearing in the press of that time, as well as to the teaching instructions made by the creator of this method himself, Stanisław Goldman.
