Summary/Abstract: The article presents various applications of the chrism (the holy myron) in liturgy of the Orthodox Church. First a particular time of applicationan and meaning of the chrism (my- ron) in the Byzantine tradition is shown. Then the author discusses the process of evolu- tion of the Byzantine baptismal anointments (prebaptismal and postbaptismal) in the con- text influenced by the syrian liturgical tradition. Particularly anointing with the chrism (myron) is indicated, that in Byzantine rite is considered as confirmation (miropomaza- nie). He speaks about anointing of various spots of the body and about the accompanying prayers as it is proved by the former practice of the Russian Church (17th). Finaly, at at- tempt at formulating liturgical theology of the human body has been made, as it appears in the liturgical practice.
