Summary/Abstract: In this study I propose to make known the content of a document (intitled “Memoir”) whose author is Gheorghe Cantacuzino, a Greek officer in the Russian military and a close collaborator of Alexander Ypsilantis. The fact that this document, entitled Memoir, isn’t mentioned by the Romanian historiography (except from Dinu, 2022), the non-existence of a corresponding philological Romanian edition (preceded by an introduction, notes and appropriate comments) make it necessary to know about it. Comparing the information provided with others obtained from other sources allows the outline of the author's role in the context of the Greek Revolution on the territory of the Wallachia. The decisions made by the officer contextually present him as someone who could have played a much more relevant role in the liberation movement, given that Prince Ypsilantis had given him more credit. The presentation of the information in the Memoir as well as the proposals for their contextual interpretation may prove useful in highlighting some lesser known details of the Greek Revolution on the territory of the Romanian Lands.
