Summary/Abstract: The paper outlines the major characteristics of the reception of Polish literature in Hungary between 1990 and 2020, based on the author’s own research, in the context of changes occurring in the institutional structure following the political transition in 1989 (publication and dissemination of books and journals). The author examines the context and aims of the reception in this period, outlining the Hungarian reception of four authors: two 20th-century classics (Czesław Miłosz and Witold Gombrowicz), including their influence on translations and the formation of the cultural context necessary for reception, and two contemporary writers (Olga Tokarczuk and Andrzej Sta- siuk). Next, contrastive cases of reception of two genres (drama and non-fiction) are briefly dis- cussed. Finally, the need for re-translating 19th-century authors is shown, given their existing but outdated translations.
