PIRACY ATTACKS NEAR SOMALIA AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE IN SOMALIA AGAINST SEA PIRATES

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the long-lasting problem of sea piracy off the coast of Somalia as it is of major concern to the international community. The peculiarities of the Somali criminal justice system are analyzed. Expectations for its necessary updating are presented. The author pays specific attention to international judicial cooperation in respect of maritime crimes in the region.
