Summary/Abstract: As an archivist, working for years in this field, I have to admit that all the traditional daily tasks of an archivist have changed in various ways in the age we live in today. This has happened for many reasons, but the most important is the dominance of the online, digital environment and as a result our work has changed dramatically on many levels. Twenty years ago, users had to visit the reading room of an archival institution to access archival material information. While nowadays, in addition to the creation of databases that this information is accessible online thanks to the automation of the archive, new trends are being observed where users seek and want to browse digital archival materials through archive websites both from computers and through mobile phones. theirs. Therefore, archival institutions should support these new access methods much more, not forgetting the investment in their administration for this technical knowledge. Moreover, in the past, the work of archivists was based on the conservation or preservation of the physical printed form of documents, while today they have to face the long-term preservation of digital archival material, taking into account various parameters: such as software obsolescence and hardware, the fragility of digital media, preserving the authenticity and integrity of digital material, etc. In this new environment, an archivist must have knowledge of a variety of areas and be able to delve into whatever area is required to fulfill the job's responsibilities. This bulletin will provide an overview of new trends in archives and information management in general, in an effort to deepen the knowledge of archivists. In the digital era, in the face of the great technological boom, not only archivists have been affected, but also every documentation expert, students of archival sciences, librarians, etc., i.e. every institution of cultural heritage whose function is the preservation, management and service of documentation that they carry in their collections, but now in DIGITAL format. But not only that. Beyond the creation of systems with detailed content of information on relevant documentation, there are also new archival tasks of description, digitization, digital preservation and their promotion. In addition, we must take into account the trends of new technologies, such as Semantic Web and Social Media, which are affecting the distribution of archival material and its data, breaking down the walls of archives and making information vulnerable. by everyone regardless of the user's geographic location. Therefore, it is necessary to know the most common standards, database schemas and content description standards implemented by archival institutions around the world, as well as the most popular software used in archives in order to manage our archives as efficiently as possible. and to follow the most current developments in this field. And first of all, it is necessary to understand the importance of digitalization, its advantages and disadvantages, but above all, as well as the reasons for which this step is taken, and then to reach the most "hot" point, which is about the issue of digital storage, which is and will be one of the biggest challenges in the field of information management for the next decade.
