Summary/Abstract: This article presents the cosmopolitan attitude of Ilija Trojanow, a German-speak- ing writer with Bulgarian roots, who consistently speaks out in his literary works, polemics and public speeches in favour of global solidarity, cultural diversity and defence of the dignity of every human being. Based on the reportage collection Der entfesselte Globus, the polemic Kampfabsage. Kulturen bekämpfen nicht sich - sie fließen zusammen, co-written with Ranjit Hoskoté and the autobiographical essay Nach der Flucht, the committed attitude of the writer, who shows the positive aspects of cultural transfer, defines hybridity, confluence and change as vital cultural factors, and sensitises the fate and position of the excluded, the poorest and migrants, is analysed. It is also shown that Trojanow responds to the anxiety of the foreign, which is intensified by current mass migration, by describing the situation of the refugee from the perspective of a lonely, suffering individual and calling for solidarity in the face of the problems of the planet.
