Summary/Abstract: The article identifies the name of Taso (Athanas) Georgiović, which is written in one of the inscriptions referring to the construction of the Rila Monastery. Taso was a merchant from Belgrade, commissioned by Miloš Obrenović, Prince of Serbia to help with the construction of a new catholicon at the monastery. Through Taso’s mediation the monastery was supplied with construction materials from Hungary and Austria. His sojourn at the monastery provides also evidence of more significant donating activity of Prince Miloš Obrenović pertaining to the Rila Monastery than it has been assumed until recently.
