Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is the landscape construction in novels by Witold Gombrowicz referring to adventure literature pattern. In Przygody (Adventures) and Zdarzenia na brygu Banbury (Events on the Banbury Brig), similarly to his entire creative output, the description is significantly limited, which reflects his attitude towards tradition – in this case the “epic of the 19th century”, according to Włodzimierz Bolecki. The analysis of the mentioned novels confirms the degradation of the description, which becomes stereotypical and schematic in a demonstrative way. Such parody of the “abstractive adventurous space”, described by Michał Bachtin, as well as limiting the descriptions in favor of events, serves the diagnosis of Gombrowicz on the essence of adventure literature.
