Summary/Abstract: The article refers to the term “autobiographic place” first proposed by Małgorzata Czermińska in the field of geopoetics. More precisely, it refers to one of the kinds of such a place – a touched place. Such a place is encountered during the travel; such an encounter is usually accidental and “fleeting”, but this place for some reason holds the writer’s interest and inspires them to create. The examples of such situations can be found in the output of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, who underwent numerous and frequents travels and his output is suffused with sensual experiencing the outside world. The article describes the fregments of four stories by Iwaszkiewicz: Młyn nad Utratą (The Mill over Utrata), Młyn nad Lutynią (The Mill over Lutynia), Kościół w Skaryszewie (The Church in Skaryszewo) and Heydenreich. The analysis concentrates on how these publications present places that can be found in a geographical space. The article presents the road that needs to be taken to reach such places, and most of all the places themselves. The main characteristics are: peripherality and a kind of “memory exclusion”. Iwaszkiewicz is especially interested in stories connected to these places, partially recalled from stories of other people, partially created in his stories. In this way he nobilitates marginalized and forgotten places, places with objectively no value.
