The expression has its origins in ancient times and belongs to a geological formation made on a segment of the Bâc River not far from the city of Kishinev, on whose account legends were created and to which personalities like Dimitrie Cantemir, the Swede Weismantel, B.P. Hasdeu, the Bessarabian Zamfir Arbore, the Russian Zașciuk and the Romanian historian Nicolae Densușianu showed interest. According to the erudite scholar B. P.
