Summary/Abstract: AbstractThe purpose of this study is to elucidate the specificity, role, and significance of education within the confined reality of the prison environment, as well as the impact of interventions in the peniten- tiary rehabilitation process, using the example of the Włocławek Penitentiary. An assessment of various teaching methods employed in the penitentiary system has been conducted, along with an analysis of the influence of education on the social reintegration process of former inmates. Exist- ing challenges and prospects for the development of the education system in penitentiary institu- tions have been examined. Furthermore, the educational needs of inmates and opportunities for development within the correctional facility have been identified. The entirety constitutes a com- prehensive analysis of the role of education in the penitentiary rehabilitation process.
