Summary/Abstract: A family is an important component of social life in a global society. Many modern families expe- rience crisis situations. Important critical situations that disturb the everyday functioning of par- ents and children include alcoholism of one or both parents, verbal aggression, physical and psy- chological violence as well as conflicts between parents and children and migration of the father or mother abroad for work purposes. A disturbing social phenomenon that causes a family crisis is the breakdown of the family in the form of a divorce. Primary and dominant crisis situations arise in various circumstances of disturbed family life. Single critical situations in the family can be eliminated by parents who are aware of their parental roles. However, multilateral crisis situations may lead to dysfunction of the family environment.
