Marian Zdziechowski on religion, art and Polish independence

Summary/Abstract: The study considers many aspects of Marian Zdziechowski’s writerly output. Special attention has been paid to his philosophical works, in which Zdziechowski attempts to reconcile the main precept of Catholic Modernism with the Church authority. Zdziechowski’s attitude to the philosophy of Young Poland movement, especially their view on religion, is investigated in greater detail. Moreover, the study focuses on the envisaged organisation of the Polish state upon regaining independence, as the issue is of crucial importance in Zdziechowski’s works.
