Journalism as an additional specialisation – journalism school at the Pedagogical University

Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the unique experience of the Pedagogical University in teaching journalism as an additional specialisation in its journalism school, presenting it against the background of European and American trends in training journalists. The author describes external (changes in law) and internal factors influencing the profile of additional journalism courses offered by the University as well as changes in their curriculum and organisation. According to the author, the course focused on practical training and building a professional workshop, aimed at students with solid background in humanities, politics or culture studies, has proved very successful.
