The circle of students’ literary preference: between Katarzyna Grochola and Janusz L. Wiśniewski

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present in a close-up the literary preferences of the students of Polish Philology of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, and the motives of choosing the particular Polish authors. In the interpretation of the survey results, the author used the methods of examining the texts of culture suggested e.g. by John Fiske, and the methods of their decoding suggested by Stuart Hall, the main representatives of the British cultural studies; the author also relies on the uses and gratifications approach (empirical communication studies).
