Summary/Abstract: Remittances from emigrants, have played an important role in social - economic development in Albania. Achieving a level about of 1 billion euros, (nearly 10% of GDP), they have been an important source in economic welfare’s growing, poverty reduction, reducing of trade deficit, and in general, in economic growth of the country. However, the gradual weakening of the of emigrants’ ties to the country of origin, has caused in recent years a gradual decrease of remittances, bringing in such way a substantially reducing of this important source of financing. In this context, this paper aims to examine the role of remittances on economic growth in Albanian economy. In theoretical aspect, different papers argue that growing of remittances, has a significant impact on economic growth, largely through their impact on consumption and savings, but also by attracting foreign investment, increasing of productivity, sustainability of the financial system, etc. In this perspective the present paper aims to analyze, the dynamics correlation of remittances and economic growth in the Albanian economy. In this point of view, except empirical analysis, is built also an econometric model which investigate the correlation of remittances to economic growth. As the period of analysis is consider 22-years period, (1992-2013), while the corresponding data base is use that from the World Bank (WDI).
