Social Activities of the Catechist in the Contemporary Pastoral Context

Summary/Abstract: In the catechetical ministry, it is necessary to open up more to the space ofsocial life. The article is a reflection on the activity of a religion teacher in so-cial life. The latest catechetical documents and theological, sociological andsocial literature were analyzed. Scientific research has allowed to isolate four important issues, which will be discussed in turn. These are: an attempt tocharacterize contemporary society; knowledge of the students’ environment;extracurricular activity of a religion teacher and activity in the parish life. Ac-cording to the paradigm of pastoral theology, the aim of the article is to devel-op specific solutions and suggestions.
