Dietary suplements as a specjal food category in polish and EU legistaltion

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a legal and comparative analysis of legal definitions in order to recognise the essential features of a dietary supplement, which distinguish it from other categories of foodstuffs and medicinal products or medical devices, which are subject to separate and exclusive definitions and legal systems.The terms used in the definition of a dietary supplement were analysed, as well as the gaps and ambiguities that raise numerous interpretation problems. In order to distinguish dietary supplements and other product categories in similar forms, an in-depth analysis of the law has been conducted as well as presentation of the detailed characteristics of the product, including the way it is presented.
