Summary/Abstract: The protection of individual fundamental rights and freedoms, especially the right to property, has been the subject of concern over the years. Article 1 of Protocol 1 to the European Convention on Human Rights, Article 6/1 to the European Convention on Human Rights, adopted by the Council of the Republic of Albania on 31 July 1996, Article 8137 (The ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms). All actors in the field of human rights protection consider property to be as important as other rights such as freedom of faith and conscience. This is reflected in various conventions at the international, regional, and national levels. The right to property and the methods of acquisition, unfair compensation, and protection of property are explicitly provided for in the Constitution of the Republic of Albania.
