Summary/Abstract: The changes that our society has undergone have had a major impact on the family and more specifically on family relationships. In recent decades, life expectancy has increased signifi cantly and the quality of life has also improved. In addition, women’s access to education and work outside the home has given older women a new status and new ambitions in their lives. In our research, the targeted subjects are people aged 60 years and above; presenting different profiles allowing them to distinguish themselves from each other. The majority showed the ability to manage their relationships differently than their elders, whether with their adult children who have also become parents or with the outside world. The analysis of the interviews with our respondents revealed the existence of four categories of seniors who are divided between investing in volunteer work, remaining active, preferring to rest and the fourth typology that concerns retirees who pursue lifelong learning. These seniors regardless of whether they belong to the categories mentioned above have to develop strategies to meet the demands of their adult children, whose main task is to look after their gran dchildren. To make the most of their free time, which they have earned after long years of work and taking on responsibilities for their families, our retirees actively participate in associations, others are more present in cultural events and are also interested in organized trips and group outings.
