Summary/Abstract: The text edits and critically discusses previously unpublished correspondence conducted in 1943 between Rudolf Höss, commandant of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, and Fritz Bracht, a gauleiter of Upper Silesia. The camp, located in the Upper Silesian province, played an important role in Bracht’s local, national, and economic policies. For this reason, the gauleiter sought to maintain close cooperation and cordial contact with the camp authorities.
