Summary/Abstract: As in other towns of Transylvania, the armourers' guild of Braşov developed in a similar way. Smiths, blade-smiths, rafters, shepherds and gun's foundry-workers of Braşov had financial and military contributions to the defence of the town. The smiths' guild had a tower, built in first part of the XIVth century which was destroyed in the XIXth century. The period of great trade development is between the XVth-XVIth centuries, when the relations of Braşov with Wallachia and Moldavia are very intense and bring about a intensification of commerce. The number of craftsmen involved in arms production in the second part of the XVth century and the first part of XVIth century was 141. Following an increase in the arms production, sales intensify and mostly beyond of the Carpathians mountains. Such sales was stopped primly for a short time, when the relations between Transylvania and the Romanian trans-alpine countries were not so good.
