Summary/Abstract: The classification of editions of recent Serbian literature based on textual and editorial practice is considered in this paper. Definitions and typologies of different editions are developed based on the theoretical book Osnovi tekstologije by Dušan Ivanić, as well as on theoretical works of Russian and Polish textologists. The greatest attention was afforded to critical/academic editions as the basis from which lower type editions (popular science, popular and school editions) should start. The basic stages of work on critical editions are indicated, with special reference to the critical apparatus (variants and redactions). Practical problems related to the methodology of editing the literary works of Serbian writers were analyzed (the scope of editions, the choice of the primary text, the staging of the plays). At the same time, the paper deals with issues of evaluation of publications in Serbian academia, so unacceptable positions regarding their evaluation have been highlighted.
