Summary/Abstract: In the article I look at the practices of walking, working and détournement, present in the activities of the Interdisciplinary Creative Research Center “Pracownia”. This is a creative group that operated in Olsztyn and Warmia at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s and was one of the pioneers of culture animation in Poland. I understand the movement practices of “Pracownia” as methods of research in action, getting to know oneself and the world at a time of cultural crisis, leading to the democratization of life, work and social space. It is a study of the land in order to root in the place and to make changes in it, changing the dominant discourses about work, art, disability or the belonging of places and objects. It is also a subversive action through laughter and détournement aiming at social change. Walking practices are, finally, journeys into oneself, developmental work, showing new aspects of creativity, as well as developing the creator himself.
