Summary/Abstract: The issues and problems related to the genealogy of Miklós Oláh have been the subject of research for four and a half centuries. This is not only because Oláh himself is sometimes cryptic about his origins, but also because the number and reliability of the sources available to us are not satisfactory. No one doubted that the Oláh and the Hunyadi family, who were related to him, came from Havasalföld, but the rapid social and political careers of the two families in the Kingdom of Hungary led many to wonder: perhaps they were not of Romanian origin, for how could the sons of a despised and despised people have risen so high on the social ladder of the 15th and 16th centuries? The debate is still going on today (not only in professional circles), primarily not about the Oláh, but rather about the Hunyadi family. Our study aims to bring new data to this debate by presenting recently discovered, hitherto completely unknown sources.
