THE CYBER DIMENSION OF THE BATTLESPACE

Summary/Abstract: Starting in 2016, with the NATO summit in Warsaw, cyberspace is considered operational by the North Atlantic Alliance. From a simple computer connected to the Internet to the most sophisticated servers, cyberspace is vital to the security of any nation. In this context, NATO supports member states to strengthen their cyber capabilities to respond effectively to present and possible threats. The present article addresses these threats, vulnerabilities and risks. The author describes the cyberspace, the main actors operating in it and the importance of knowing the opponent’s capabilities as close as possible to the reality.
