Summary/Abstract: In the introduction L. Franek emphasizes the possibility of the return to the interdisciplinarity of the epistemological process in the field of artistic translation. It is related with the increasing role of the creative individual and his or her freer status in the new social and political conditions. The cultural dialog among nations makes possible to apply the new historical and critical perspective by reviving the cooperation between theory and practice. The author thus wants to tie up with the earlier results of Slovak thinking about translation (Anton Popovič), while pointing out some limitations of structural poetics applied in the 1970s and 1980s. He sees the rehabilitation of the subject in relation with the development of modern and postmodern literature in Europe and in the world. He tries to transfer the multidimensional approach not only into the research but also into the teaching practice at the university. It especially concerns the analysis of interesting parallels and differences between Slovak and Hispanic‑American romanticism. Following the Slovak tradition of translation theory and criticism he accentuates the valuable contribution of some students’ theses focused on the theoretical and critical aspect of artistic translation.
