Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper is the population of the settlement Djedino near Zivinice in the nineteenth century. Djedino is an old settlement whose existence was recorded in the first Ottoman censuses of the Zvornik Sandzak, which speaks of its continuity. Census from 1850/51 year provided an insight into the demographic situation of the settlement in the middle of the nineteenth century. During the Austro-Hungarian administration in Bosnia and Herzegovina, four population censuses were conducted, which made it possible to compare data from two different periods. And the land registers that are in the Municipal Court of Zivinice allow insight into the state of ownership in that period, giving us the opportunity to determine who were the first registered owners of real estate in the cadastral municipality of Djedino. These sources provide insight into the number of houses and households in this historical period. An insight into the entries in the land registers, where the heirs of the first land register owners were registered, allows us to follow the demographic development of this settlement up to the present day. By comparing these data, we see that in the last decades of the Ottoman administration, the number of inhabitants and residential buildings did not increase, and that a slight increase only occurred in the last decades of the Austro-Hungarian administration.
