Summary/Abstract: If it is taken into account that the goal of philosophy or philosophical understanding is to look for ontological meanings in words, as the Germans do, it is all the more justified, in the spirit of the utterance, to look for the meaning of old words, says Constantin Noica. To look for their meaning that opens horizons of being/thinking, but above all to find the moment and the meaning of the leap that a seemingly trivial word makes from the concrete to the abstract meaning. With many seemingly forgotten words something significant happens. If they are not recovered from the point of view of meaning for the philosophical horizon of thought, even if this meaning does not disappear, they enter into apparent oblivion. Noica is of the opinion that the linguistic path of a word, but especially its ontological meaning, upon more careful research and putting it in the context of the evolution of language, of the development of thought, can be recovered and can be reintegrated from the point of view of philosophical utterance.
