Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present and compare forepassed and contemporary anthroponymous material, which is approximately 70 years apart. The subject of the analysis are the names given to children during baptism in the Roman Catholic parish of St. Saint Giles in Tczyca (the province of Małopolska) in the years: 1946–1951 and 2016–2021. The text is an attempt to describe the naming motivations occurring in the mentioned periods. The collected material contains male and female names given to a total of 723 people. There were 228 names recorded in the work – 144 in the first period and 84 in the second. The material discusses: motivations for giving names (the influence of tradition, names inherited from family members), multi-names and a.k.a. names “brought”. The analysis of anthroponymic material shows similarities and differences in giving names to new members of the parish community, as well as in the mid-20th century and in the second decade of the 21st century.
