Summary/Abstract: The research described in the article indicates how identity transformations in the Galician German community are reflected in the frequency analysis of socio-onomastic names given to children at baptism. For the purposes of the article, male and female names given in both colonies in two time periods were examined. The interval from 1900–1918 was intended to reflect the existing onomastic tradition of the colonists, while the second interval (1919–1938) indicates identity transformations in the era of independent Poland and the looming spectre of German Nazism. The colonies were selected because of their different identity evolution in the interwar era.
