Summary/Abstract: Norse myths are the subject of numerous remakes and rewriting within the cultural industries contemporary productions. This article looks at various aspects of the reception of these traditional stories today. After outlining the questions posed by the medieval sources at our disposal, this text shows that contemporary representations are generally not direct references to the Middle Ages, but to several intermediate receptions. Secondly, Norse myths are often associated with stories from other cultures, thus taking part in processes of cultural hybridization. Studying them shows that our cultures are products of many combinations and borrowings, far from the purity that some seek to attribute to them. Finally, myths can be used to explore contemporary social issues, particularly political ones, such as ecology, war, feminism and positions of domination in the writing of history. Therefore, although they are traces of the past, Norse myths are firmly rooted in today's societies and can be used to evoke the many issues at stake.
