DIGITIZATION OF LIBRARY MATERIAL AND RESOURCES IN THE SPECIAL LIBRARY OF THE OPEN-AIR MUSEUM “OLD VILLAGE” IN SIROGOJNO: PROPOSAL FOR THE PROJECT DIGITAL LIBRARY

Summary/Abstract: The paper points out the significance of the digitization process in contemporary library work. Besides reviewing general (legal) provisions of special libraries and their positioning in cultural institutions, the paper focuses on the special library of the Open – air Museum “Old Village” in Sirogojno, which, in accordance with the Law on Library /Informational Activity entered in the register of libraries run by the City Library of Belgrade and the Central Library of the National Library of Serbia in 2015. Starting from the fact that “there is virtually no library in the world that did not realize all the advantages of digitization and which has not already entered the project of building digital collections”, the necessity is emphasized to systematically approach the digitization of library material and resources in the special library of the Open – air Museum “Old Village” in Sirogojno in order to create an easily searchable and relevant platform with over 100 editions (exhibitions catalogs, programs and projects, thematic publications, collections of works, monographs and other). The proposal is presented in the form of the Digital Library project.
